Ireland is known for several things including its lush fields, architectural treasures, and colorful festivals. In fact, Ireland is popular for holding the most festive and, oftentimes, quirky celebrations. Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, Puck Fair, and Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival are just three festivals highly recommended to travelers across the globe.

The Cat Laughs Comedy Festival is tagged as Ireland’s favorite festival. It is celebrated in June in County Kilkenny. The festival showcases a number of local and international comedy acts by both breakthrough artists and veterans. It is a five-day celebration, attracting more than 30,000 visitors a year.

Puck Fair, which is celebrated in Killorglin, County Kerry in August, is the oldest traditional festival in Ireland. The main attraction of the more-than-400-year-old event is the crowning of King Puck, a wild mountain goat. A Queen of Puck is also crowned, usually a young girl from one of the local elementary schools.

The Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival in Lisdoonvarna, County Clare, is the festival for singles around the globe. Annually celebrated through September, it attracts more than 20,000 visitors a year. Aside from matchmaking, attendees also enjoy music and racing.
